Five Keys to Success + Free Coaching for the New Year

Last week, I was invited to join Loyola University Chicago’s International Marketing MBA class and share my experience working with marketing (as a salesperson) throughout my career.

It was also fun to reflect on my top five tips for being successful as an entrepreneur.

Here is what I shared:

  1. Relationships are key.

I don’t mean networking in a way that feels transactional or icky. I mean cultivating genuine relationships in your life. One of the best pieces of advice I received when I started at Airbnb was to meet as many people across departments as I could for short coffees during my first three months. The excuse? I was new and ramping up. This approach not only helped me understand their roles but also allowed me to connect with them personally. Now as an entrepreneur, my relationships have helped me get my business off the ground.

2. Have the mindset to serve and add value.

Hear a podcast on a topic a friend might love? Share it with them. Think two friends could benefit from being introduced because they’re navigating similar challenges? Make the connection. Not only does this approach feel rewarding, but there are always positive ripple effects.

3. You are your brand—what do you want it to say?

Whether you’re at a company or an entrepreneur, your reputation is your brand. Fun tip: If you want to know if your personal brand aligns with how you see yourself, ask five people—coworkers, friends, or family—to describe you in five words.

4. Establish a personal board of directors.

I wrote all about this here.

5. Prioritize reflection.

One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is the space to truly think and reflect. With that in mind, please check out my gift to you below.

A Gift For You

I’m gifting free one-hour coaching sessions in the new year—no strings attached.
